At the beginning of Summer, I was sent a box full of Smartwool products for me and my husband to test. Today we are going to talk about the women's items I received. In the box there was a Cortina jacket, a Light 195 Wind Zip T, and a pair of wool socks.
Since it was the beginning of Summer when I received these items, I was fearful I would not be able to enjoy the products until the Fall, oh how I was wrong!
It is no joke when I say the Cortina jacket went everywhere with me this Summer. From a weekend anniversary trip to the Hood Canal, a camping trip on the Olympic Peninsula, a kayaking adventure on the Puget Sound, and countless evening walks and outdoor adventures galore. All Summer long, I consistently grabbed my Cortina jacket over any other fleece or lightweight jacket I own. On a particularly cool morning while camping on the coast I layered it with another fleece which further proves it versatility and lack of bulk.
The Cortina jacket is the perfect weight. It is lined with merino wool on the inside to regulate your body temperature and has nylon on the outside to protect you from the wind. I loved the weight of this jacket because it allows me to move while providing warmth.
I have been a longtime fan of Smartwool's socks, but I have never experienced their vast line of clothing before. Needless to say, I am excited to try their base layers for hiking and snowshoeing this Fall and Winter.
Whether I was walking, hiking, beach combing or kayaking the Cortina Jacket kept me at just the right temperature.
Although I did not take any photos of my socks, I can honestly say once you wear Smartwool it is hard to go back to anything else. For hiking and camping I always prefer my Smartwool socks to keep me warm and dry.
The Wind Zip T was a new piece to add to my wardrobe. On cool morning runs, I typically layer up and off I go. Now with this new piece I can streamline the process and just wear this. I loved the tapered fit of the Wind Zip T, and the pull over aspect. I found the Wind Zip T to be a very versatile piece to wear for cool morning runs, sitting around the campfire or nighttime hikes. Overall, the lesson I learned this Summer is the quality, fit and style all make Smartwool products the pieces you will grab for again and again. Money spent on Smartwool products is money well spent.
Coming soon: my husband's review of the men's products.
