A day in Seattle
Sometimes you need a day without structure. A day set aside to breathe fresh air, soak up sunshine and only have a vague sense of time based on the setting sun. Last Saturday, we enjoyed one such day. We walked through the arboretum to Foster Island and then continued along the Montlake Cut. We enjoyed fresh tomato soup, reuben sandwiches and peanut butter toffee cookies at Madison Kitchen. Before meeting our friend for dinner at Paquito's we walked around Melrose Market and discovered our new favorite store, Glasswing. As we walked back to our car enriched by both food and friendship it was easy to see; life just the two of us not only can be good, it is good.
I am reminded of one of my all time favorite quotes by Epicurus, "Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for."
How do you make certain not to take for granted the goodness in your own life?
