When we go on a city vacations the food is always what gets us the most excited to get out of bed in the morning. The best part of traveling to a world class city like San Francisco is there are always more places we want to eat than meals in a day. Especially now that we have a perpetually hungry toddler, our city vacations go a little something like this: walk, eat, sleep, repeat.

I may or may not have planned our flight around getting to the Ferry Building's farmer's market in time for lunch. At the Farmer's market there is always a gigantic line to one place- Roli Roti. Their roast chicken and potatoes is something I have dreamt about since our last visit to San Francisco, so we made it point to go here not once, but twice during our visit.

Since temperatures in California are much warmer than in Seattle in the Winter the Farmer's market had all kinds of local foods we would never see this time of year. These gorgeous grapes and loads of citrus were highlights of the day for me.

One morning we went bright and early to Mr. Holmes Bakehouse only to find a significant line had already formed on the sidewalk outside. Although the prices are a bit high, these chocolate chips cookies were worth every minute in line.

Jasper spent much of our trip double fisting pastries and whatever else he could get his hands on. Here he is enjoying a treat from Acme bread located inside the Ferry Building.

And our love affair with baked goods continued when we made a stop at Boudin. I could not resist myself and bought Jasper a gigantic teddy bear. I don't think he realized it was edible until later in the day because he was hugging him and rubbing his belly like he was a new friend.

The Mission district is home to most of our favorite places to eat. This time we ate at Tacolicious, Pizzeria Delfina, Bi Rite Ice Cream and Tartine for a big box of pastries.

After a fun morning at the California Academy of Sciences we had a delicious and filling lunch at Park Chow. We happily snagged an outside table and basked in the sunshine for an hour. Their salads are enormous and we were able to easily split one for lunch.

A few doors down from Park Chow Jasper enjoyed some ice cream. We had planned to share, but the serving was so small it really did not make sense so Jasper enjoyed it solo.

One morning after some time at De Young Museum we enjoyed a fantastic brunch at Zazie. The wait was going to be well over an hour when we noticed the outside tables were first come first serve. We quickly snagged a table and felt pretty smug every else waited for so long.

One of the more out of the way spots we visited was Outerlands. We enjoyed a delicious dinner of shrimp and grits and beef stew one evening and then came back a few days later for their infamous grilled cheese for lunch.

One of the most exciting spots we visited was Tartine Manufacturing. Tartine Manufacturing just recently had started serving dinner at their new location. We were lucky enough to secure a reservation and I was so excited to eat there. We arrived a little early to our reservation which meant we had time to shop and eat a little ice cream before dinner. Our meal consisted of the most delicious roasted chicken and pasta of my life. Hands down if we lived close by Tartine Manufacturing would be on heavy rotation for eating out.
