Jasper National Park
Watching an animal in its natural habitat is truly one of the most thrilling outdoor experiences. From the squeal of marmots or pikas to watching elk, moose or big horn sheep roam; the thrill of seeing an animal up close is never lost on me.
Our first morning in Jasper National Park we saw an elk and several big horn sheep, I was delighted. After our wildlife spotting, we decided to make the drive to Maligne Lake. We spent the better part of the afternoon walking along its rocky shore, skipping rocks, taking photographs and eating lunch. In the Summer time, I hear this place is swarming with tourists. Aside from a few other people we had the place to ourselves. The upside of traveling in the off season is there are ample parking spots and picnic tables, but the boat rental and almost all other amenities are closed for the season.
Maligne Lake is fourteen feet long, which makes it pretty impossible to view by foot. Next time, I would like to go on the boat tour to see more of this beautiful lake.
