A little bit about Lisette.....

Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest I feel most alive surrounded by trees and breathing in the fresh mountain air.

When I am not working you will most likely find me spending time outdoors, volunteering with my church and exploring this beautiful planet with my family.

This is my place to share my passion for life and to encourage you to take time to find the extraordinary in your life.

Part Two: A weekend at Rolling Huts

Aside from spending all day cozied up in your Rolling Hut there is so much to see and do nearby. As is fairly evident; we are big fans of hiking. Washington Pass is a mere 10-15 minutes away from Rolling Huts and will give you an array of hiking trails to choose from. Blue Lake and Cutthroat Lake are some of our favorites. If strolling around a western town is more your speed there is the quaint town of Winthrop with shops, restaurants and a candy store we love. Further afield there are resorts where you can go on a sleigh ride, ski, spot wildlife, snowshoe or eat a delicious meal.

Mazama is filled with beautiful landscapes, picturesque farms and endless beauty. On our visit we went from raindrops to snowflakes as we made our way up Washington Pass. Winter is definitely on its way to the North Cascades! Mazama and the Rolling Huts covered in a blanket of snow are equally beautiful.

Normally we pack light, but since we were taking a road trip from Seattle we decided to bring a few extra things to make our stay a little more pleasant. Here are a few things we were happy we brought:

1. Ceramic mugs and paper plates. Although Rolling Huts provided dishes and cups we decided to bring our own mugs. Drinking out of your favorite mug brings a bit of home to your stay. Since we knew the Rolling Huts did not have running water inside we decided to bring paper plates to expedite clean up after each meal. Had we stayed during the Summer we would have utilized the ceramic plates and easily cleaned them off with the outdoor water spout.

2. Slippers and throw blankets. There is something extra cozy about wearing slippers and being able to wrap up in your favorite throw in front of a roaring fire so we brought our slippers and a couple throw blankets.

3. Down comforter and pillows. We always sleep better when we have our own pillows and we knew having our down comforter would make us feel right at home.

4. Card games, journals, magazines and little crocheting.  The Rolling Huts does not have a television, so we made certain to bring our own entertainment. We have several favorite card games, magazines and craft projects which are reserved for trips like this.

5. Cutting board and knife.  Rolling Huts has a great on site restaurant called Kelly's which we were planning on eating at one day for breakfast, but other than that we provided all our own meals. It is always nice to have a good sharp knife and a cutting board to make food prep a little easier.
